Mahendra Singh Dhoni popularly known as Dhoni or MS Dhoni is an Indian cricketer. He is married to Sakshi and has one daughter. He was born on 7th July 1981 in Ranchi India when his family moved from Uttarakhand to the city. He studied at the DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi. He is passionate about bikes and has a variety if bikes ranging from old to the most exclusive ones. He was good at sports from quite a young age. He was good in football and badminton which was even played at district and club level. His coach keshav Banerjee noticed his Excellency in goalkeeping and urged him to give it a try in cricket and wicket keeping.

 

Life before the title.

 

He has worked as a railway ticket examiner (TTE) from 2001 to 2003 at the Kharagpur railway station. The East zone team had rejected him for his unconventional style of playing. At 18, he had played for the first time for Ranjhi Trophy Bihar against Assam in 1999-2000. He had scored 283 runs in the five matches and made half century scoring 68 in the second innings. He made his class century while playing against Bengal in 2000-01 seasons. TRDO Prakash Poddar was impressed by his game at a match in Jamshedpur in 2003 during BCCIs small town talent spotting and thus started the journey of a cricket legend.

 

Start of the ODI career

 

He scored duck in his first match against Bangladesh in 2004-05 but still got selected for the Pakistan ODI series. Later he turned out to be one of the best cricket captains in the history of cricket. He stands 3rd after sachin Tendulkar and Dravid to play 500 internationals.

 

Achievements

 

He has in his stride the fastest century scorer by an India wicket keeper when played against Pakistan test in Faisalabad. The score was 143 in 93 balls. He was captain of the Indian National team from 2007 to 2016 and from 2008 to 2014 in Test cricket matches. He has highest run scores in one day international (ODIs) with more than 10000 runs. Under limited overs formats, he is considered to be an effective finisher. He is also considered to be the best wicket keeper in modern Limited overs international cricket. Most of the wins by Indian captain in test ODI and T20Is go into Dhoni’s credit. Indian won 2011 Cricket world cup after defeating Srilanka under the captainship of MS Dhoni. The helicopter shots by Dhoni and his sixes are very famous. Dhoni was chosen in world T20 in 2007 to lead India and became known as captain to won a world cup in any form of cricket.

 

Trophy

 

He bagged the ICC trophy for player of the year twice. A Jharkhand boy who was shy and timid made great in the history of cricket with his hardwork and perseverance.

He is conferred with honorary lieutenant colonel in the Parachute regiment of the Indian national army in 2011. While receiving the Padma Bhushan award from Indian president Ram Nath Govind he wore the army uniform.
